I usually don't open forwarded emails and read the whole thing let alone blog about it. But, an email with this title which was forwarded by Mama got my attention.
Who doesn't love bacon? Almost everyone I know does... And who doesn't know that eating fish, and it's omega-3 fatty acids, is good for our health?
Well, researchers have found out that there is a fish that is NOT...
Farm-raised tilapia, one of the most highly consumed fish in America, has very low levels of beneficial omega-3 fatty acids and, perhaps worse, very high levels of omega-6 fatty acids, according to new research from Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
The email caught my attention because I like eating Tilapia...especially when it is pinaputok or crispy fried versions.

Papa Wins doesn't like it so much. He said he doesn't like the taste. Maybe he has a sixth sense about unhealthly food? He doesn't like bacon either.
Tilapia has higher levels of potentially detrimental long-chain omega-6 fatty acids than 80-percent-lean hamburger, doughnuts and even pork bacon, the article says.(...more...)
Knowing this, I wouldn't go out of my way to buy/order/cook Tilapia anymore. I would still like to eat Tilapia every now and then. But we should be having more Tuna - the canned and fresh versions - from now on.
Though the article came out around July 2008, I only learned about it today. I am curious to know if YOU are aware of this fact? After knowing this, would you change your eating habits?

hi that's a nice dish here. yummy is the fish and it's nicely presented.. makes me drool
All you have to do is atop eating fish that are farm raise. Your problem is solve.
@Nedekcir
You are right. Since the farm-raised fish is fed corn-based feeds which contain the omega-6 fatty acid it would be best to avoid all kinds of farm raised fish altogether.
That means goodbye to crispy fried hito (catfish), too.
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

I didn't know about this information regarding Tilapia. Actually i really like it, that i didn't mind anymore if what benefit or anything that i can get by eating it. Thanks to you. But i love bacon than fish.LOL
Bacon is a cured meat prepared from a pig. It is first cured using large quantities of salt, either in a brine or in a dry packing.
Is a very good article, so I feel good for so little. Hope to see you more than the article!
So many writers pretend to know what they’re talking about when it comes to this topic and in reality, very few people actually get it. You seem to grasp it though, so I think you ought to take it and run. Thanks!

Bacon, though perhaps not directly inflammatory, high in fat and calories and probably should be consumed in moderation. Fish is an excellent source of high quality protein and can be a good source of omega-3 fats benefit.
Their are very few foods that are not better with bacon. I love bacon, and feel that I hit info mother-load with your bacon hub delicious.

I like my bacon chewy hate crunchy. It has to be greasy and have the fat. Yum. Love bacon. Though, turkey bacon isn't too bad.You should also be able to buy some dried marrowfat peas and so make mushy peas from scratch.I also sorted the Monopoly title deeds, and the cash in my cash drawer always faced the same way when I had a cash drawer.
So yummy dish, I would like to try it once if get a chance. Lovely garnishing with more of green leaves and tomato slice.

This is really healthy and yummy recipe for us. your work is out of ordinary i am pleased to found your blog.
Really? Bacon? Again? What is this obsession with bacon all of a sudden? In my opinion, it is a personal preference to like bacon or fish. I don't like greasy food and I don't really like pork products, so I guess I'm a fish person. However, it's good to know that there are kinds of fish which are not as healthy as we give them credit for. Thanks for the info! Best wishes, Flora
